RENO, Nev. – Reno 1868 FC will walk away from Greater Nevada Field on Saturday feeling like it should have earned more, while Fresno FC will be happy to have escaped with a point after playing to a 1-1 draw in front of 4,724 fans. Fresno got on the scoreboard first – against the run of play – as Bradley Kamdem Fewo sent in a perfect cross from the left wing into the center of the penalty area for Jose Cuevas to finish with his left foot. The Foxes did not have the lead for long, though, as 1868 FC answered immediately following the halftime break. Brian Brown drew a foul seconds into the half and tapped in the equalizer after Zach Carroll headed the ball across goal. Reno had a majority of the opportunities to add to the score line, with Lindo Mfeka’s shot on frame in the 67th minute serving as one of those quality chances. Fresno nearly stole all three points in the 86th minute, but Reno captain Zach Carroll put his body on the line to deny a shot, and JT Marcinkowski made a spectacular stop against Christian Chaney on the follow-up attempt. With the result, Reno moves to 6-3-5 on the year, while Fresno is now 3-4-7 in 2018.

Scoring:

34’ – FRS – Jose Cuevas (Bradley Kamdem Fewo)
46’ – RNO – Brian Brown (Zach Carroll)

Three Things That Matter:

  • 1. Reno has not lost a game since April 14. Nearly two months have passed since 1868 FC last fell, as the team has now remained unbeaten in 10 straight matches. Five of those games, including Saturday’s, were draws, while the team has garnered wins against the Portland Timbers 2, Sacramento Republic FC, San Antonio FC and OKC Energy FC (2).
  • 2. Fresno had not performed well on the road so far this season, but Saturday’s point against a hot Reno side is something to be proud of. The Foxes have, mainly, Kyle Reynish to thank for that, as the netminder recorded nine saves throughout the 90 minutes of action.
  • 3. One of the biggest moments of the match came in the 77th minute, when Reno captain Zach Carroll willed the ball over the line but was ruled to have fouled Fresno goalkeeper Kyle Reynish in front of goal. The visiting netminder never appeared to have full control of the ball after it bounced around the six-yard box, but center official Marco Vega made the decision to not award Reno the go-ahead goal.
