IRVINE, Calif. – Orange County SC announced on Friday the signing of veteran defender, Kevin Alston. He joins the club having made more than 170 appearances in Major League Soccer with the New England Revolution and Orlando City SC.

“We are fortunate to acquire a player of Kevin’s caliber. He is an experienced player who will make a significant impact to our backline,” said Orange County SC Head Coach Braeden Cloutier.

The 30-year-old Alston started his professional career with the Revolution when he was selected 10th overall in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft. He went on to have an extremely successful career in New England, making more than 160 appearances during a six-year spell. In 2010, he was selected to represent the MLS All-Star team, and started against Manchester United FC in Houston.

Alston also earned selection to the U.S. Men's National Team in 2009 for games against against Jamaica and El Salvador. However, injury prevented him from making his debut.

“As an organization, we are excited to add Kevin to our team. He is a proven winner and leader who will have a tremendous influence on and off the field,” said Orange County SC General Manager and Executive Vice President Oliver Wyss.

In 2015, Alston made the move to Orlando City SC and went on to make 26 appearances for the Lions. He also spent time with Orlando City B in the USL during the 2017 season. The versatile defender, who can play both right back and left back, is eligible to make his debut this Sunday against SoCal rivals the LA Galaxy II.
