COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced on Monday the club had signed midfielder Karsten Hanlin, who joins the club after having previously competed for Real Monarchs SLC.

Hanlin had made 16 appearances for the Monarchs over the past two seasons, including two so far in 2018. The 24-year-old had previously competed at the University of Denver for four years, during which time he made 78 appearances for the Pioneers and was named to the 2016 Summit League First Team and 2016 Summit League All-Tournament Team.

“Karsten will be a great addition to the team. He will add much needed competition and depth in many positions since he is very versatile,” said Switchbacks Head Coach Steve Trittschuh. “He comes from an organization in the Monarchs that were top of the league last season and Karsten has the right mentality to come in and help us immediately.”

Hanlin will be available for the Switchbacks next game on Saturday night as the side takes on the Swope Park Rangers at Weidner Field.
