Half-volleyed long-range strike for Rowdies claims top spot in weekly fan poll

TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Bay Rowdies midfielder Michael Nanchoff has earned the USL Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week for Week 11 of the 2018 season as his long-distance finish that helped the Rowdies claim their second road win of the season took top spot in the weekly online poll.

Nanchoff’s first goal of the season was a cracker, as he struck a half-volleyed finish from 25 yards out that clipped the bottom corner of the left post and caromed into the net for the Rowdies’ second goal of a 4-2 victory against Toronto FC II last Saturday afternoon. The goal was his first in league play for the Rowdies since joining the club prior to the 2016 season.

Nanchoff’s goal earned 36 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Thursday. Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC’s Saeed Robinson finished second on 32 percent for his strong roofed finish against Saint Louis FC last Saturday night, while Louisville City FC’s Cameron Lancaster finished third for his 25-yard free kick that proved the game-winner in the club’s River Cities Cup clash against FC Cincinnati.
