TAMPA, Fla. – Las Vegas Lights FC goalkeeper Ricardo Ferriño has earned the USL Fans’ Choice Save of the Week for Week 9 of the 2018 season following his diving save against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC late last Friday night at Weidner Field.
Ferriño grabbed his first Save of the Week award this season after the 26-year-old stretched to the left to make a fingertip save off Switchbacks forward Tobenna Uzo's 90th-minute attempt. Despite the save, Colorado went on to earn the 1-0 victory over the Lights.
Ferriño's save earned 55 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com which concluded on Friday. Tampa Bay Rowdies goalkeeper Cody Mizell finished second with 24 percent for a diving save off a penalty kick from Richmond Kickers midfielder Yudai Imura, while Toronto FC II's Angelo Cavalluzzo finished third with 11 percent for thwarting Penn FC forward Tommy Heinemann's penalty kick at the 58th minute.
