Outstanding curling finish by Toros winger earns top spot in weekly fan poll

TAMPA, Fla. – Rio Grande Valley FC midfielder Jesus Enriquez has earned the USL Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week for Week 9 of the 2018 season after his brilliant curling finish for the Toros in the USL Game of the Week on ESPN3 against Fresno FC took top spot in the weekly online poll.

The Mexican 20-year-old’s first goal for Rio Grande Valley was one to remember as Enriquez picked up possession on the left flank from Aldo Quintanilla, angled back into the top-left corner of the penalty area to elude his marker and then unleashed a perfectly-placed curling finish into the top-right corner of the net.

Enriquez’s goal earned 69 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Thursday. The Charleston Battery’s Gordon Wild finished second on 17 percent for his tremendous volleyed finish off Neveal Hackshaw’s back-post cross against Bethlehem Steel FC last Saturday night, and Phoenix Rising FC’s Didier Drogba finished third for his remarkable long-range free kick against Tulsa Roughnecks FC.
