SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio FC heads out on the road over the next seven days not only for back-to-back road contests, but also trips to two new cities as it takes on Fresno FC on Sunday evening before visiting Las Vegas Lights FC next Friday night.

With the side looking to boost its position in the Western Conference after picking up only one win in its first five games midfielder Ryan Roushandel believes the chance to get on the road could be a platform for the side to work its way back into the win column.

“I like going on these trips during the season,” said Roushandel. “We all get to spend time together and just worry about playing soccer together for SAFC and getting the results, so hopefully this will springboard us.”

While the Foxes are new to the league, there are plenty of familiar faces within the club’s squad to San Antonio’s players. With experienced players like Juan Pablo Caffa and Danny Barrera part of the team’s on-field leadership, the Foxes’ five-game undefeated streak is certainly no accident and Roushandel is aware of the threat they will pose.

“Obviously it’s somebody new and it will be a different style, but there are a lot of guys on these teams who we’ve seen in the league before, so we know how they play,” said Roushandel. “It’s not completely new territory but it’s a new atmosphere. We will worry about ourselves and what we need to do to improve from last weekend to get positive results from these two games.”

While many of the faces may be familiar, the new environments are something the side is looking forward to experiencing. Fresno and Las Vegas have pulled good crowds already this season, similar to those that San Antonio has continued to experience at Toyota Field in 2018.

“It’s great to go to two new environments,” said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell. “We haven’t been there before so that will be exciting for the players. We’re looking forward to these new experiences, and first and foremost we want to be ready for Sunday’s game.”
