Standout finish to cap clever Red Bulls II move finishes top of fan poll

TAMPA, Fla. – New York Red Bulls II midfielder Jose Aguinaga has earned the USL Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week for Week 5 of the 2018 season after his top-class finish to cap off a clever move in the attacking third by the Red Bulls II in their victory against the Tampa Bay Rowdies took top spot in the weekly online poll.

Aguinaga scored his first professional goal in Week 4 against the Richmond Kickers, and the Spaniard made it two in two games with a beautiful first-time strike early in the second half against Tampa Bay. After Stefano Bonomo picked up possession moving toward the top-right corner of the penalty area, Aguinaga stepped into the departed space to fire home a nicely weighted pass into the top-left corner of the net.

Aguinaga’s goal earned 40 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Thursday. Indy Eleven’s Soony Saad finished second with 35 percent for his 35-yard curling blast against Nashville SC last Saturday afternoon, while Sacramento Republic FC’s Christian Eissele took third with 18 percent for his excellent flicked finish against Las Vegas Lights FC.
