ATL UTD 2 standout’s first professional tally takes weekly award

TAMPA, Fla. – ATL UTD 2 forward Lagos Kunga has won the USL Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week for Week 3 of the 2018 season after producing an outstanding individual run and finish for his first professional goal that took top spot in the weekly online poll.

A member of the U.S. U20 National Team that competed last year at the FIFA U20 World Cup, Kunga spent time on loan a season ago with the Charleston Battery from Atlanta United. This past Saturday, the Homegrown signing made his mark in a major way in ATL UTD 2’s first road game of its inaugural season with a slaloming run that saw him beat a pair of defenders while navigating the goal line before a tight near-post finish against the Charlotte Independence.

Kunga’s goal earned 72 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Thursday. Saint Louis FC forward Kyle Greig and Fresno FC forward Juan Pablo Caffa finished tied for second on 10 percent for their exceptional finishes, with Greig’s audacious lob from the top-right corner of the penalty area against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC and Caffa’s pinpoint 30-yard free kick against OKC Energy FC both contributing to important victories for their respective clubs.
