CARSON, Calif. –  LA Galaxy II and San Antonio FC couldn’t break each other down as the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw at the StubHub Center on Saturday afternoon. A quick counter-attack gave San Antonio FC the first chance of the match after a long ball found SAFC forward Ever Guzman, who was brought down by LA goalkeeper Wade Hamilton. Guzman got up and took the penalty, but Hamilton got his revenge reaching up to make the save. That penalty save seemed to spur both teams on as the final 20 minutes of the half saw more attacking play but neither side broke through and the teams went into halftime scoreless. On the hour-mark, Los Dos went agonizingly close as midfielder Miguel Aguilar was afforded enough space to hit a shot from the edge of the area that beat SAFC goalkeeper Diego Restrepo but came back off the crossbar. SAFC’s chances of winning the match took a hit in the 77th minute when midfielder Mikey Lopez was shown his second yellow card after a collision with Hamilton. Following the red card the match got more stretched but SAFC managed to hold on for the draw.

Scoring
None

Three Things That Matter:

  • 1. San Antonio FC dominated the possession battle in the match, having 56.7 percent of the ball. Despite that the LA Galaxy II defense was strong, restricting chances with most of that possession forced in SAFC’s own half.

  • 2. In line with having so much of the ball, SAFC passed heavily, managing 513 passes at an accuracy rate of 85 percent. 75 of those passes were long, including the most promising pass of the game which led to the penalty kick that was ultimately denied by Galaxy II goalkeeper Wade Hamilton.

  • 3. Despite seeing much less of the ball LA Galaxy II looked more likely to score, putting SAFC goalkeeper Diego Restrepo under pressure throughout the match. LA managed eight shots in the match, compared to San Antonio’s two.

USLSoccer.com Man of the Match:

Wade Hamilton, LA Galaxy II – In a match of few chances, Hamilton was vital to Los Dos picking up a point for a second consecutive game. Making two saves in addition to the penalty save, Hamilton also started movements for LA with a passing accuracy of 85.7 percent.
