ATLANTA – ATL UTD 2 announced on Thursday the club had signed forward Devon Sandoval and midfielder Jose Carranza, pending league and federation approval.

“We are excited to add Devon and Jose in advance of our home opener at Coolray Field on Saturday,” head coach Scott Donnelly said. “These are two experienced attacking players who will add an element to our group. Devon can score goals and provide a great deal of presence for us, as well as bringing maturity and toughness. Jose gives us versatility in a few attacking spots, has international experience, and is hungry to make his mark. I couldn’t be happier to add these two to our group and to the club.”

Sandoval, 26, joins ATL UTD 2 from the San Francisco Deltas, where he helped the club claim a championship a season ago. His professional career began in 2013 when he was selected by Real Salt Lake in the second round of the 2013 MLS SuperDraft. Sandoval spent four seasons with RSL and made 74 appearances, scoring seven goals. He has experience in the lower division after spending time on loan with Carolina RailHawks, now North Carolina FC, and Real Monarchs SLC. Sandoval played collegiately at San Diego State University and the University of New Mexico.

A 19-year-old midfielder, Carranza joins ATL UTD 2 from North Carolina FC where he began his professional career in 2017. He spent four years in the D.C. United Academy system before joining North Carolina FC where he ultimately made nine total appearances. Carranza was also in the U.S. Soccer residency program and featured with the U.S. U18 National Team.
