ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Rowdies announced on Thursday the club had signed midfielder Jack Blake to a permanent deal. Blake originally joined the Rowdies in early February on a season-long loan from Jacksonville Armada FC. Per club and league policy, further contract details were not disclosed, and the signing is pending league and federation approval.
“Jack has become an integral part of the Rowdies,” said Chairman & CEO Bill Edwards. “We know Jack enjoys being a part of the Rowdies, so it was important that we signed him to a permanent contract. We want to make sure we’re taking care of and looking out for all 23 players on our roster.”
Blake, a 23-year old English attacking midfielder, played in all the Rowdies’ preseason matches, while also notching an assist against the Philadelphia Union on February 24. Blake has impressed in his time with the Rowdies, starting the last three preseason matches against the Montreal Impact, Philadelphia Union and the University of South Florida.
“Coming to the club on loan, I knew that the Rowdies organization was very professional,” said Blake. “I’ve experienced it first hand, seeing the dedication from the staff from top to bottom. I am honored to sign here on a permanent contract. I especially want to thank the owner Bill Edwards, as well as Lee Cohen and Stuart Campbell, for giving me this opportunity to further my career.”
