IRVINE, Calif. – Orange County SC announced the signing of Jamaican striker Michael Seaton on Monday, with the 21-year-old former D.C. United Homegrown signing being joined by former UC Irvine standout Giovanni Godoy in the club’s attack for the new season.

Seaton has scored 15 goals in 67 professional appearances since making his MLS debut for D.C. against the Philadelphia Union at the age of 17. He also competed in MLS for the Portland Timbers, while more recently competing for Maccabi Ahi Nazreth Football Club of the Liga Lemuit in Israel.

“Michael is a player that is going to be a handful in this league. He is a strong powerful player that will cause problems for many defense,” said Orange County SC Head Coach Braeden Cloutier. “He gives us the ability to stretch our opponents with his pace and will give us the much-needed ability to score goals up top.”

Seatone has also made 17 national team appearances for Jamaica, having made his debut aged 17 in November, 2013 against Trinidad & Tobago. Seaton has scored twice for the Reggae Boyz in his international career.

“I am glad to be here,” said Seaton. “There have been a lot of ups and downs that have not been in my control, but I am grateful that this organization believes in me to get the job done moving forward.”

Godoy joins Orange County after being named last fall as the 2017 Big West Conference Offensive Player of the Year, and to the 2017 All-Big West Conference First Team. Godoy led the Big West with 13 goals last season, which earned the 22-year-old an invitation to the 2018 MLS adidas Player Combine.

“Giovanni is a player that I got familiar with this past college season locally at UC Irvine. He was rewarded with his solid season with an invite to the MLS combine,” said Cloutier. “Godoy came into our preseason from day one with a fantastic attitude and work ethic. He is an extremely intelligent player that I have been very impressed with this preseason.”
