EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Louisville’s Niall McCabe scored the second-half equalizer as the preseason Kings’ Cup clash between Louisville City FC and Saint Louis FC ended in a 1-1 draw on Saturday evening at Arad McCutchan Stadium.

Saint Louis got off to an ideal start as it took the lead in just the third minute as an awkward backpass by a Louisville defender found the back of the net. The defending USL Cup champion got back on the front foot as it searched for a response, and almost leveled just past the half-hour mark as Luke Spencer fired just wide of the post.

STLFC remained ahead going into the second half, and almost added to its lead eight minutes after the break when Louisville goalkeeper Tim Dobrowolski was called on to make an important save. As the game opened up and started to see more chances for both teams, however, Louisville found its equalizer with 18 minutes to go when McCabe seized on the rebound from a shot by Cameron Lancaster to score his third goal of the preseason.

Both teams pushed for a winner in the final 15 minutes, but neither of the two rivals were able to claim the upper hand as they wrapped up their preseason preparations ahead of next weekend’s start to the 2018 USL regular season.
