PITTSBURGH – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC continued its impressive preseason for as it took a 3-2 victory against Penn FC on Saturday afternoon at Highmark Stadium as Kevin Kerr, Joe Holland and Romeo Parkes all scored for the hosts in their eighth preseason victory.

The teams traded chances early on before the Hounds broke through in the 11th minute. Parkes received a looping ball in from Ray Lee but was tripped up by two defenders as he entered the penalty area. Kerr took the penalty kick, shooting low into the left corner for his fourth goal of the preseason.

Penn tied the game in the 24th minute as Jorge Rivera converted from a free kick, but seven minutes into the second half Riverhounds SC regained the lead for good on their second penalty kick of the contest. This time it was Holland brought down in the penalty area, and the English midfielder emulated Kerr with a low finish to the left corner for a 2-1 lead.

Pittsburgh added a third in the 68th minute when Thomas Vancaeyezeele found Parkes with a nice through-ball, which allowed the Jamaican to split two defenders on a breakaway then use the outside of his left foot to place the shot past the charging Penn FC keeper. Penn pulled a goal back in stoppage time from a penalty kick of its own, but it wasn’t enough to deny the hosts from the victory.
