HARRISBURG, Pa. – Penn FC announced on Friday it had signed defender Ken Tribbett, who returns to Harrisburg after having had a standout rookie season for the club in 2015. The signing is pending league and federation approval.

Tribbett was nominated for the USL Rookie of the Year award in 2015 as he played every minute of the regular season while recording three goals for the club. That performance saw Tribbett sign with the Philadelphia Union prior to the 2016 Major League Soccer season, and he subsequently made 23 appearances for the Union over two seasons, recording two goals and one assist. Tribbett also made 13 appearances on loan with Bethlehem Steel FC.

The 25-year-old had previously featured in the Premier Development League for the Michigan Bucks, with whom he claimed the 2014 PDL Championship and All-Central Conference honors. The previous year Tribbett helped the Ocean City Nor’easters win the Eastern Conference Championship and advance to the PDL National Semifinals.

Tribbett also starred for Drexel University, where he made 74 appearances in his college career and earned All-Colonial Athletic Association honors in each of his four seasons with the Dragons. Tribbett was selected to the NSCAA All-Region Team in his junior and senior seasons as the Dragons won back-to-back CAA titles.

TAMBAKIS HEADS TO NCFC: North Carolina FC added to its goalkeeping corps for the new season with the signing of former Atlanta United goalkeeper Alex Tambakis on Friday. The signing is pending league and federation approval.

“Alex is an important addition to squad,” said NCFC Head Coach Colin Clarke. “We’ve had some very good goalkeepers here the last two years, and now we have a new group of keepers. Alex will certainly challenge for the starting position along with Austin [Guerrero]. He brings USL experience from Charleston. I’m excited to have him here. He’s a good addition to our squad and his signing creates a competitive battle between him and Austin for the starting spot.”

Tambakis spent time each of the past two seasons on loan with the Charleston Battery, where he made 29 appearances and helped the club reach the USL Cup Playoffs both years. Last season he claimed the USL Save of the Month award for June and recorded a 69.3 save percentage with two shutouts in eight games.

“I’m very excited to join North Carolina FC, a club with a great technical staff, high-level, talented players and a strong fan base,” said Tambakis. “I come with great motivation to put my hard work and background to the service of the team. I will give my all to help the club achieve its goals. NCFC has all the attributes to have a strong presence in the USL and win a championship. I can’t wait to share the exciting moments with my teammates and the fans.”

ORANGE COUNTY ADDS YOUNG STANDOUT: Orange County SC has announced the signing of former New York Red Bulls II defender and Trinidad and Tobago U20 international Noah Powder.

“Noah is an exciting young player with a bright future. He already has quite a bit of experience in the league despite being 19,” said Orange County SC Head Coach Braeden Cloutier. “I’m looking forward to working with him and helping him continue his development.”

Powder made two appearances in the 2016 USL Cup Playoffs for the Red Bulls II, helping the club claim the championship, and last season turned professional with the club. The 19-year-old made 10 appearances for New York last year and was part of the squad that fell to Louisville City FC in the Eastern Conference Final of the 2017 USL Cup Playoffs.
