PHOENIX – Phoenix Rising FC announced on Wednesday it had re-signed forward Chris Cortez for the 2018 USL season. The club leader in assists this past year will enter his third season with the organization.

“I’m really excited to be back in Phoenix this year,” Cortez said. “The club and fans were amazing last year and I know things will only get better on and off the field. I'm very happy to be a part of this organization and look forward to helping it get better and better.

Cortez finished third on the team in scoring with five goals to go along with his team-leading five assists. Over two seasons with the club, Cortez has found the back of the net 12 times and has notched eight assists. The veteran forward has made more than 100 appearances all-time in the USL, having previously competed for Orange County SC for three seasons before arriving in Arizona.

Phoenix Rising FC now has three players signed for the 2018 season. In addition to Cortez, the club recently announced the signings of midfielder Alessandro Riggi and goalkeeper Carl Woszczynski.
