CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati announced on Tuesday it had signed former San Francisco Deltas midfielder Tyler Gibson for the 2018 USL season. The signing is pending league and federation approval.

In his third professional season, Gibson made 30 regular-season appearances for the Deltas and recorded three assists, while recording a passing accuracy rate of 85.4 percent and 32 interceptions. The 26-year-old also started in both postseason contests for the Deltas, and scored the game-winning goal in the side’s 1-0 victory against North Carolina FC in the semifinals before going the full 90 minutes as San Francisco claimed the championship.

“Tyler has a fantastic winning mentality and showed it this season,” said Cincinnati Head Coach Alan Koch. “He is dynamic in the middle of the park and will give us a vitally important option in our midfield. He is technically and tactically excellent and we look forward to integrating him in to the team in preseason.”

Gibson has made 68 appearances overall in the professional ranks, having previously been named the Atlantic 10 Midfielder of the Year at UNC Charlotte in his collegiate career. Gibson was also named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team on three occasions in his time with the 49ers.
