OKC Energy FC news and notes

  • Current record: 11-11-7, 40pts

  • Energy FC boosted its USL Cup Playoffs chances with a 3-1 victory against Sacramento Republic FC last Saturday night at Papa Murphy's Park, which moved the side into sole possession of eighth place in the USL Western Conference.

  • Jose Angulo recorded a goal and assist in the victory as he opened the scoring in the first minute and then set up Jonathan Brown’s goal eight minutes later to give Energy FC a solid lead. Miguel Gonzalez then sealed the victory in the 81st minute.

  • Energy FC opens the weekend's action three points ahead of ninth-place Orange County SC in the Western Conference standings, with Orange County holding a game in hand on OKC as it squares off on Saturday night with Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at Weidner Field.

  • OKC announced earlier this week that it would be without standout goalkeeper Cody Laurendi for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury suffered in the club's contest against Reno 1868 FC on Sept. 20. Laurendi will be out a minimum of six months after surgery.

LA Galaxy II news and notes

  • Current record: 7-17-5, 26pts

  • The Galaxy II fell to a 3-0 defeat against the Swope Park Rangers on Wednesday night at Children's Mercy Victory field in the most recent game of its trip through the Midwest.

  • Los Dos are now winless in their last five outings with the side claiming only one point in that span, which has resulted in the Galaxy II's mathematical elimination from playoff contention.

  • The Galaxy II have won more games on the road this season than at home, with four of the team's seven victories coming away from the StubHub Center Track and Field Stadium.

  • LA will return home to host the Portland Timbers 2 in its home finale last Saturday night before visiting Real Monarchs SLC in its final game of the regular season in two weeks.

Series Notes

  • The Galaxy II lead the all-time regular season series 4-1-3 after the teams played to a 1-1 draw when they met for the first time this season.
