Harrisburg City Islanders news and notes

  • Current record: 9-14-7, 34pts

  • The City Islanders come into this match following a 1-0 win against Ottawa Fury FC on Wednesday night at FNB Field.

  • Despite losing Cardel Benbow to a red card in the first half, the City Islanders managed to score the only goal of the match in the opening minute in the second half through Ropapa Mensah.

  • Mensah's goal was his fifth in the month of September, with the 19-year-old Ghanaian having scored three goals in the City Islanders' last two games.

  • The City Islanders are now on a four-game undefeated streak, and have taken three wins in that span to keep their slim hopes of a return to the USL Cup Playoffs alive.

  • Harrisburg defender Abass Mohammed earned his first call-up to the Ghana National Team earlier this week as he was named in the country's squad for a crucial World Cup Qualifying contest against Uganda on Oct. 7.

Saint Louis FC news and notes

  • Current record: 9-12-8, 35pts

  • Saint Louis suffered a 2-2 draw against FC Cincinnati last Saturday night at Toyota Stadium – Saint Louis as the visitors scored on a penalty kick late in stoppage time to deny STLFC what would have been a big victory.

  • Saint Louis built a two-goal lead against Cincinnati as Seth Rudolph struck in the first half before a second-half penalty kick by Cristian Volesky, but the side was unable to hold its lead down the stretch as it missed out on back-to-back wins for the first time since April.

  • Saint Louis will be without Head Coach Preki on Saturday after he was handed a one-game suspension for being sent from the bench area late on against Cincinnati.

  • STLFC is four points back of eighth-place Orlando City B going into this weekend's action with three games remaining in its regular season.
