VAUGHAN, Ont. – Toronto FC II stunned the USL Eastern Conference leaders at the Ontario Soccer Center on Wednesday night as the hosts managed a 1-0 win against Louisville City FC. Toronto shocked the visitors in the 73rd minute as Canadian U20 international Shaan Hundal got on the end of a Jordan McCrary through ball and slid it under Louisville goalkeeper Greg Ranjitsingh to open the scoring. Louisville was the stronger side through the first half, as it had the majority of possession. Despite that Toronto was strong defensively, avoiding too much pressure from its visitors, and the hosts actually had the better of the chances. Brian Ownby thought he put Louisville in front in the 59th minute as he headed home a cross, only to be denied by an offside flag. A header from Toronto's Daniel DaSilva nearly caught out Ranjitsingh who got down well to save in the 72nd minute, but one minute later Hundal's finish gave the hsots the lead. In the 90th minute Louisville’s chances took a severe hit when Paco Craig was shown a second yellow card, leaving Louisville short of numbers going forward, and it would prove crucial as Louisville never found an equalizer, dropping the chance to seal the No. 1-seed in Eastern Conference on the night.

Three Things That Matter:

• 1. Louisville City FC was playing for a chance to clinch the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference for the USL Cup Playoffs with a win but failed to do so. Western Conference-leader Real Monarchs SLC will also be happy with that missed opportunity as a Louisville win would have piled pressure on the Monarchs in the race for the USL Regular Season Championship.

• 2. Toronto had just three wins at home coming into this match, but sealed its fourth with a strong performance against the Eastern Conference leaders that allowed the side to claim the regular-season series with its first win against Louisville all-time. With two more matches in the season, both at home, Toronto will look to build confidence for 2018 with similar performances.

• 3. The win for Toronto was on the back of a strong defensive performance, with Louisville controlling the bulk of possession. TFC II lost that battle with just 43.5 percent of the ball, but stifled Louisville's threat from the flanks as it cut out crosses regularly, restricting Louisville to just a 12.5 percent accuracy rate.

Angelo Cavalluzo,  Toronto FC II – Cavalluzo had a phenomenal performance against Louisville for the second time this season. Last time the two sides played Cavalluzo managed 11 saves in a shutout. This time he was not needed quite as much, but all four of his saves proved spectacular to help Toronto to the win.
