In-state rivals square off with postseason hopes on line

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bethlehem Steel FC and in-state rival the Pittsburgh Riverhounds are level on points as they square off on Sunday afternoon at Goodman Stadium with playoff hopes on the line for both sides as they side below the red line in the Eastern Conference. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET.

Bethlehem Steel FC news and notes

  • Current record: 10-11-5, 35pts

  • Steel FC earned a 2-2 draw with Louisville City FC last Friday night at Slugger Field in its last outing to remain in ninth place in the Eastern Conference.

  • Bethlehem twice took the lead on goals by Cory Burke and Santi Moar, but Louisville responded on both occasions to leave the contest even.

  • Steel FC is looking for its first win since a 3-1 victory against Toronto FC II on Aug. 13, since when the side has been on a five-game winless streak.

  • Burke’s goal was his sixth of the season, one behind Seku Conneh for the team-lead.

Pittsburgh Riverhounds news and notes

  • Current record: 8-9-11, 35pts

  • The Riverhounds played to a 1-1 draw with the Rochester Rhinos last Saturday night at Highmark Stadium in their most recent contest as the visitors grabbed a late draw.

  • Kevin Kerr scored with 19 minutes to go to open the score for the Riverhounds, but the Rhinos scored in stoppage time to earn a point and deny Pittsburgh a big boost in its playoff pursuit.

  • The Riverhounds sit three points out of eighth place in the Eastern Conference with four games to go in the season as they look to return to the postseason for the fourth time in USL history.

  • Pittsburgh is winless in its last three outings, with the club’s last victory having come in its last meeting with Steel FC when Kerr scored the winner in a 3-2 win.
