Richmond Kickers news and notes

  • Current record: 6-14-8, 26pts

  • The Kickers come into this match following a 1-0 loss to the Charleston Battery last Saturday night at MUSC Health Stadium.

  • The Battery scored the winning goal in the 84th minute despite having been down to 10 men since late in the first half, punishing the Kickers for not taking advantage of their advantage.

  • Sitting 14th in the USL Eastern Conference, the Kickers have nonetheless won three of their last five matches, including a home victory against the Battery and its first road win of the season against Orlando City B.

  • Richmond is on course to see its average attendance rise for a fifth consecutive season this year, with the club having seen overall attendance rise by 78 percent in that span.

Rochester Rhinos news and notes

  • Current record: 11-6-10, 43pts

  • The Rhinos suffered a dramatic 2-1 loss to Louisville City FC on Wednesday night in the second game of a three-game road trip that concludes against the Kickers.

  • Jochen Graf leveled the score for the Rhinos two minutes before halftime after Louisville had taken an early lead, but a stoppage-time penalty kick earns the hosts victory at Slugger Field.

  • Rochester is now on a three-game winless streak, which has seen it lose ground in the race for the top two positions in the USL Eastern Conference. The Rhinos are six points from clinching a fourth consecutive trip to the USL Cup Playoffs.

  • The Rhinos' Ryan Felix (1,313) and Kenardo Forbes (1,300) both rank in the top 10 for passes attempted this season in the USL.

Series Notes

  • The Kickers have held a strong upper hand in the series between the teams in the USL era, and hold a 5-2-6 edge after the teams played to a 1-1 draw on May 21.
