Pittsburgh Riverhounds news and notes

  • Current record: 8-9-10, 34pts

  • The Riverhounds saw a five-game undefeated streak come to an end in their last outing as they suffered a 3-0 defeat to Louisville City FC last Saturday night at Highmark Stadium.

  • The defeat kept the Riverhounds in 10th place in the Eastern Conference standings, two points behind both seventh-place FC Cincinnati and eighth-place Orlando City B with five games to go in the regular season.

  • The Riverhounds announced on Thursday they had signed goalkeeper Brendan Alfery for the remainder of the season to help mitigate injuries to both Keasel Broome and Trey Mitchell. Alfery was a member of the Riverhounds a season ago, but did not make an appearance in the USL regular season.

  • Pittsburgh midfielder Kevin Kerr is tied for the USL lead with 57 key passes this season alongside Louisville City FC's Oscar Jimenez.

Rochester Rhinos news and notes

  • Current record: 11-5-9, 42pts

  • The Rhinos come into this match following a 1-1 draw with Ottawa Fury FC last Saturday night at Capelli Sport Stadium.

  • Cristiano Francois opened the scoring for the Rhinos in the 19th minute but the hosts were unable to hold their lead as a second-half penalty kick allowed Ottawa to equalize and share the points.

  • With the draw the Rhinos extended their unbeaten run to three matches, and moved into sole possession of third place in the USL Eastern Conference with a game in hand on both the fourth-place Charleston Battery and fifth-place Tampa Bay Rowdies.

  • Rochester has conceded the fewest shots on goal in the USL this season, allowing only 210 through 25 games this season.

Series Notes

  • This will be the second meeting between the two sides this season following a scoreless draw on July 22nd. The Rhinos and Riverhounds will meet a third time for the season on October 7th at Pittsburgh's Highmark Stadium.
