Third weekly award of the season earned for strike against Monarchs

TAMPA, Fla. – Swope Park Rangers forward Nansel Selbol has won the USL Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week for Week 22 of the 2017 season, as his low finish that helped spark the Rangers’ comeback in a 2-2 draw against Real Monarchs SLC last Friday night took top spot in the weekly online poll.

Coming on as a halftime substitute with the Rangers trailing by two goals, Selbol immediately jump-started the Swope Park attack alongside fellow halftime addition Kharlton Belmar. Just before the hour-mark, Selbol found space at the top of the penalty area, and rifled home a finish into the bottom-left corner of the net. The tally saw Selbol claim the weekly honor for the third time this season.

Selbol’s goal earned 44 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Thursday morning. Reno 1868 FC midfielder Chris Wehan finished second with 37 percent for his standout free kick that proved the game-winner against Sacramento Republic FC last Saturday, and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds’ Corey Hertzog took third with 11 percent for another excellent free kick finish that helped the Riverhounds rally to defeat Saint Louis FC.
