Los Dos, U.S. U19 forward coming to fore after standout Academy career

When Ethan Zubak made his USL debut for the LA Galaxy II as an Academy signing in the 2015 season – his only appearance that year – he brought with him a strong resume from the club’s Academy system.

Now in his first full year as a professional after signing for Los Dos in May, 2016, the 6-foot-2 forward is starting to show exactly why the Galaxy thought so much of his ability. Zubak combination of decisiveness in front of goal and creativity in combining with teammates placed him high in the regard of coaches across the USL, putting him at No. 3 in the 2017 USL 20 Under 20.

“When you’re talking about players and player profiles and the types that you want to progress through, intelligence is a key factor. Ethan does have a lot of physical qualities that separate him,” said Galaxy VP of Soccer Operations Peter Vagenas when Zubak turned professional. “He’s got an incredible desire and perseverance to continue to get better.”

While this season has been a test for the Galaxy II, Zubak is a player who could lead the side back to prominence soon, and raise his stock further in the process.

TopDrawerSoccer.com Scouting Report
Even before Ethan Zubak made his LA Galaxy II debut, anyone who’d paid attention to MLS academy soccer knew Zubak’s name. He emerged as one of the league’s best academy’s best players in short order, and his versatility made him that much more interesting. Zubak is basically capable of playing anywhere along the front line. The skilled creator may project more as a bedeviling wide player at the next level, but his skill set is varied enough that he can do just about anything for the senior team in time.
