Game-winner against Los Dos voted top strike in June

TAMPA, Fla. – A perfectly-placed finish in tight space from Swope Park Rangers youngster Nansel Selbol has been voted the USL Fans’ Choice Goal of the Month for June of the 2017 season, emerging from a field of 10 candidates. The award comes just one week after his game-winner against the LA Galaxy II was named Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week for Week 15.

Selbol has thrived in an expanded role during his second season with Swope Park, earning nine starts in 12 appearances after totaling six in 24 games in 2016. Two of Selbol’s three goals on the campaign have come during the squad’s current seven-game unbeaten run, the latest of which saw him collect a threaded pass from Tyler Pasher just outside the penalty spot and slot his finish past a wall of Los Dos defenders and into the bottom corner.

Selbol’s goal received 23 percent of an online poll conducted on USLSoccer.com that concluded on Monday morning, narrowly edging a volleyed left-footed strike from San Antonio FC midfielder Kris Tyrpak by a single vote. A sliding finish from Sacramento Republic FC forward Tyler Blackwood that came off a tremendous feed from USL Player of the Month nominee Trevin Caesar took third with 14 percent of the vote.
