SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio FC plays host to Liga MX side Santos Laguna at Toyota Field on Saturday night in the first international exhibition in club history. The match will also be the first to be broadcast live through the San Antonio FC Facebook page, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. CT.

The match arrives in the midst of the Silver and Black’s great run so far in the 2017 USL regular season, where the club currently sits second in the Western Conference standings after losing just once halfway through the season.

Santos Laguna visits the Alamo City club as part of its preseason tour through the United States, where they have played against fellow top-tier Mexican sides Chivas de Guadalajara and Club America, earning a 5-0 win and a 3-2 loss.

Meanwhile, San Antonio FC will take a break from their USL campaign, where they currently have a 10-1-5 record. SAFC recorded a 1-1 draw in their most recent league match against Sacramento Republic FC, and has not played a match at home since June 17, when they posted a 3-1 win against Tulsa Roughnecks FC thanks to a brace from Kris Tyrpak and a goal from Devin Vega.

The match will mark the second friendly match to take place at Toyota Field this week after Liga MX teams Chivas de Guadalajara and Club Atlas faced off in an intense edition of the Clasico Tapatio on Wednesday night. Last year, Toyota Field was also host to an exhibition match between Cruz Azul and Club Atlas.

Since its opening in 2013, Toyota Field has been the host of 11 international friendly matches, seven of which have featured club teams from Mexico, two from Costa Rica, as well as the Mexico U-21 and Costa Rica U-23 squads.

SAFC will aim to record their first victory against an international opponent in front of its local fans as it prepares to return to USL play next Friday night to face OKC Energy FC live on ESPNU in the USL Game of the Week prior to taking on first-place Real Monarchs SLC the following week.
