Switchbacks look to build on victory as Toros visit

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC will look to build on its biggest win of the season to date when it welcomes Rio Grande Valley FC to Weidner Field on Saturday night for a second consecutive contest against opposition from Texas. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. MT.

  • Current record: 6-5-5, 23pts

  • The Switchbacks handed San Antonio FC its first defeat of the season last Saturday night as it took a 1-0 victory at Weidner Field.

  • Sean McFarlane’s second goal of the season proved the difference as he headed home in first-half stoppage time to end SAFC’s 14-game undefeated streak.

  • The victory came in front of a club-record crowd at Weidner Field of 4,429 fans as the Switchbacks moved to 4-1-2 on home turf this season.

  • Colorado Springs enters the weekend in fifth place in the Western Conference, and holds a six-point cushion on the ninth-place Toros.

  • The Toros fell for a second consecutive outing in their last contest as Sacramento Republic FC took a 6-2 victory last Wednesday night at Papa Murphy’s Park.

  • The defeat equaled the widest margin of defeat in RGVFC history, matching its 4-0 loss to the Swope Park Rangers last season.

  • RGVFC had only conceded 10 goals in 12 games entering the contest with Sacramento.
