CHICAGO – U.S. Soccer announced on Friday the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 match between FC Cincinnati and the Chicago Fire on Wednesday night at Nippert Stadium will be broadcast live on ESPN and ESPN Deportes, and streamed on the ESPN App. Kickoff will be at 8 p.m. ET.

FC Cincinnati advanced to the Round of 16 for the first time in club history with a 1-0 win in the Fourth Round against Major League Soccer’s Columbus Crew SC, which drew a crowd of 30,160 at Nippert Stadium, an Open Cup record for a non-Final game. Cincinnati will now host the four-time champion Fire, who advanced 1-0 against the USL’s Saint Louis FC in the previous round.

Cincinnati currently sits ninth in the USL’s Eastern Conference standings as the league concludes Week 14 of the regular season this weekend, but has made an outstanding run in its second entry to the Open Cup. FCC has won all three of its Open Cup contests at Nippert Stadium, including a tense 1-0 victory against fellow USL club and River Cities Cup rival Louisville City FC.

FCC is one of two USL clubs in the Round of 16, with Sacramento Republic FC set to visit the LA Galaxy on Wednesday night in one of the night’s other contests. Should either Cincinnati or Sacramento take victory, they would become the first USL club to reach the historic tournament’s quarterfinal stage since a trio of teams did so in the 2012 tournament.
