ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Rowdies announced on Monday that center back Damion Lowe had been called up for the Jamaican national team for this month’s Caribbean Cup.

Lowe departed on Monday to meet up with his national teammates in Martinique. The 24-year-old has made 13 appearances in his first season with the Rowdies, having earlier this year scored his first goal for the Reggae Boyz in an international against Honduras.

“I’m so happy and honored to receive this call-up from my country,” Lowe said. “The team was in Peru last week and I’m excited to be meeting up with them in Martinique to play a couple of important games. I’m always happy when I get the chance to represent my home country on the international stage.”

The Reggae Boyz play their Caribbean Cup semifinal against French Guiana on Thursday. Should Jamaica win, it will advance to face the winner of Martinique vs. Curaçao on Sunday night in the Caribbean Cup final.

Lowe will then return to Tampa Bay in time to re-join his Rowdies teammates as they prepare to face the Charleston Battery on July 1.
