Reno welcomes Toros to open big week for both clubs

RENO, Nev. – Reno 1868 FC plays host to Rio Grande Valley FC on Wednesday night to open a big week of action for both clubs as they look to strengthen their position in the Western Conference standings. Kickoff at Greater Nevada Field is set for 7:30 p.m. PT.

Reno 1868 FC news and notes

  • Current record: 3-3-3, 12pts

  • Reno’s undefeated streak reached five games in its last outing, but 1868 FC was denied a fourth consecutive victory in a 3-3 draw with Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at Weidner Field.

  • Dane Kelly scored his 10th goal of the season in the contest, but a late goal by Jordan Burt for the Switchbacks left honors even for the second time this season between the clubs.

  • Kelly is tied for the league-lead in goals alongside fellow Jamaican striker Romario Williams of the Charleston Battery, and has 58 goals all-time in the USL after his tally against Colorado Springs.

  • 1868 FC suffered a defeat in its most recent competitive outing, falling to Sacramento Republic FC in the Third Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup last Wednesday. Republic FC visits Greater Nevada Field on Saturday night in the first league meeting between the clubs.

  • Current record: 4-3-2, 14pts

  • Rio Grande Valley opened its trip to the west coast with a 0-0 draw against Sacramento Republic FC in front of 11,569 fans at Papa Murphys’ Park on Saturday night.

  • The draw extended the Toros’ undefeated streak to four games, and kept them in the top eight of the USL’s Western Conference.

  • Goalkeeper Calle Brown recorded his third shutout of the season against Sacramento, and currently holds a .800 save percentage in his five appearances this season.

  • The Toros have averaged 311 completed passes in nine games this season, compared to 1868 FC’s rate of 359 completed passes per game.
