LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Former LA Galaxy II goalkeeper Clement Diop has been named to the Senegal National Team roster for matches against Uganda and Equatorial Guinea next month. Senegal is set to face Uganda on Monday, June 5 in Dakar for a friendly match before a contest on Saturday, June 10 against Equatorial Guinea in a qualifying match for the Africa Cup of Nations.

The call-up marks Diop’s first selection to a senior international side. A native of Paris, France, Diop’s father is Senegalese, making him eligible for the Lions of Teranga.

The 23-year-old Diop signed with the Galaxy II prior to the 2015 USL season, and helped lead LA to the USL Western Conference championship that season. He was then signed to an MLS contract by the Galaxy prior to the 2016 season. Diop has made 46 regular-season appearances for Los Dos, and seven regular-season starts for the Galaxy.

Diop will depart from the Galaxy following the team’s match next Saturday, May 27 on the road against the San Jose Earthquakes. Diop will return to Los Angeles on June 11.
