LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The LA Galaxy II announced on Thursday the return to the club of midfielder Alejandro Covarrubias, who rejoined Los Dos from OKC Energy FC. Covarrubias, from Cudahy, Calif., recorded 77 appearances in three seasons for Los Dos, beginning with the team’s inaugural year in 2014.

“We delighted with the return of one of our own,” said LA Galaxy II Head Coach Mike Muñoz. “Alejandro is familiar with our club and will provide instant leadership both on and off the field.”

Covarrubias, Los Dos’ all-time appearances leader, returns after being signed by OKC Energy FC (USL) in December. The Galaxy II qualified for the USL Playoffs in each of the three seasons Covarrubias was with the team, including a USL Western Conference Championship in 2015. A member of Los Dos from the beginning, he started in the club’s inaugural match in 2014.

He played for Cerritos College his freshman and sophomore seasons, before transferring to Cal State Dominguez Hills for his junior year. He was then signed by LA Galaxy II ahead of their 2014 season.
