First professional goal for San Antonio midfielder edges out Tampa Bay’s Brown

TAMPA, Fla. – Devin Vega’s first professional goal for San Antonio FC has been voted the USL Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week for Week 6 of the 2017 season, with the former FC Dallas Academy standout edging out the Tampa Bay Rowdies’ Deshorn Brown in one of the closest votes of the season so far.

Vega’s first goal in the pros proved to be the game-winner as San Antonio took a 3-2 victory against Seattle Sounders FC 2 last Tuesday night. Springing forward on the counter-attack after a pass by SAFC midfielder Pecka, Vega held off his marker as he drove into the left side of the penalty area and finished low to the right corner.

Vega’s goal received 37 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Thursday morning. The Rowdies’ Brown took second place with 34 percent for his scissor-kick finish against the Richmond Kickers this past Saturday, while Real Monarchs SLC’s James Moberg finished third with 21 percent for his outstanding turning finish against the Swope Park Rangers.
