HANOVER, N.J. – Brandon Allen and Florian Valot both found the net as the New York Red Bulls II rallied from an early deficit to take a 2-1 victory against Bethlehem Steel FC in a preseason scrimmage at the New York Red Bulls training facility on Saturday afternoon.

The match got off to a fast start as both teams looked to take control in the first 10 minutes. Bethlehem opened the scoring in the sixth minute as Charlie Davies beat an offside trap to put one past Red Bulls II goalkeeper Rafael Diaz.

Just nine minutes later, however, Allen drew a penalty kick in the Steel FC area. Allen, who recorded a hat trick to take USL Cup Final MVP honors last season, stepped right up and sent one right down the middle to equalize, catching the goalkeeper guessing the wrong way.

The game entered halftime level, but the Red Bulls II took the lead for good in the 54th minute when Valot would score a beautiful goal from 25 yards out that found its way over the head of the Bethlehem goalkeeper.

Bethlehem pressed for an equalizer during the final 30 minutes, but Diaz denied multiple attempts from the visitors to ensure the defending USL champions wrapped up their preseason with a victory.
