WFC2 Re-Signs Goalkeeper Village

Former PDL standout back for third season with club

VANCOUVER, B.C. – Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 announced on Friday that the club had re-signed goalkeeper Mark Village, pending league and federation approval.

"Mark is a consummate professional and a team leader," said WFC2 Head Coach Rich Fagan. "He is a very vocal goalkeeper and a joy to have in the team. We're delighted to have him with our group."

Village, 25, enters his third season with WFC2 after joining the inaugural squad in 2015. Prior to beginning his professional career, Village played at the University of the Fraser Valley under Head Coach Alan Errington. In 2012, Village was named to the Canada West Second Team All-Conference, and in 2013 he led the Cascades to their best ever season.

A native of Abbotsford, B.C., Village played one season with Fraser Valley Mariners FC of the Premier Development League. In that season, Village recorded a league-high 103 saves, with a season-high 11 saves coming on the final match day against Whitecaps FC U-23.
