The USL Goal of the Month title is back up for grabs with 10 of the best tallies from the month of September earning nominations for for the top prize.

The penultimate Goal of the Month field for 2016 is led by Fans' Choice Goal of the Week Winners Luke Rooney (Arizona United SC - Week 24), Jimmy Sanon (FC Montreal - Week 25), Rony Argueta (Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC - Week 26) and USL Assists Champion Villyan Bijev (Portland Timbers 2 - Week 27) but there are a number of contenders with a legitimate claim to the top spot.

A pair of electrifying forces in USL 20 Under 20 selection Derrick Etienne Jr. and Swope Park's Kris Tyrpak are busy leading the highest seeds remaining in the Eastern and Western Conference playoffs respectively but look to collect another honor en route to the ultimate prize.

Etienne Jr.'s Red Bulls running-mate Noah Powder is one of two defenders who made his way onto the list by virtue of a highlight finish, with the other being Arizona's Peter Kelly, whose volley punctuated one of the most memorable passages of play during the 2016 regular season.

Rounding out the field are recent MLS Homegrown signing  Ricardo Velazco (Real Monarchs SLC) and the ever-dangerous Danny Barrera (Sacramento Republic FC), who baffled USL defenses throughout the campaign.

One of these 10 standouts will join the five previous Goal of the Month winners as guaranteed entrants in the Goal of the Year competition, with one more spot to be decided by a fan vote at the conclusion of the #USLPlayoffs. 

With all Goal of the Month winners advancing to the Goal of the Year competition at year's end, another coveted spot will be filled based on the selection made by you, the fans.

Voting will remain open through 9 a.m. ET on Monday, Oct. 10, so be sure to submit your vote for who you think should claim the crown as September's USL Goal of the Month champion.
