COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A dramatic winner from Mike Seth handed Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC a 2-1 win against visiting Seattle Sounders FC 2 at Switchbacks Stadium. Seth, who now leads the Switchbacks with eight goals scored, beat Seattle goalkeeper Matt Bersano with a low strike in the 94th minute of play to secure the club’s 14th win of the 2016 USL regular season. Switchbacks’ Rony Argueta and S2’s Darwin Jones each scored in the first half. With the win, the Switchbacks improve to 14-8-7 on the year, while Seattle drops to 9-12-8.

Scoring:
8’ – COS – Rony Argueta
29’ – SEA – Darwin Jones
90’+ – COS – Mike Seth (Saeed Robinson)

Three Things That Mattered:

  • 1. Switchbacks forward Seth leads his club in goals scored after a strong showing on Saturday. The 28-year-old now has three goals in his previous three games after slotting in the game-winner during the 94th minute of Saturday’s match. Saeed Robinson played Seth through, and the forward took a few touches before sending a shot by Seattle’s Bersano.

  • 2. Seattle’s road record dropped to 2-7-5 with one match remaining in the club’s regular season. S2 netminder Bersano made key saves in the 63rd and 65th minutes, but the Switchbacks took advantage of the many opportunities they created to hand Seattle another road loss this season.

  • 3. Argueta’s first goal of the 2016 USL regular season was a special one. The midfielder, who has played in 28 games for the Switchbacks, blasted a shot from outside the box by S2 goalkeeper Matt Bersano for the game’s opener in the eighth minute. Argueta had not provided an assist or scored a goal since April 9, 2016.
