Spectacular volley earned 40 percent of online fan vote

Following a tightly contested fan vote, the impressive volley off the foot of FC Montreal midfielder Louis Béland-Goyette has been crowned USL Goal of the Month for August after garnering 40 percent of online votes.

A previous fans' choice selection for Goal of the Week, the tally from Béland-Goyette came in the early moments of a wild, Week 23 affair with rival Toronto FC II; one that FC Montreal eventually claimed 4-3 as part of a four-match winning streak.

The strike from the Canadian-born PDL alum edged a long-distance free kick by Rio Grande Valley FC standout Emilio Garcia (37 percent) for the month's top honors while another free kick delivered by Saint Louis FC's Chad Bond rounded out the top-three.

With the result, Béland-Goyette joins a quartet of FC Cincinnati representatives that includes USL Golden Boot frontrunner Sean Okoli (April), Andrew Wiedeman (May), Eric Stevenson (June) and Omar Cummings (July) that has booked a spot in the end-of-year Goal of the Year competition.
