City Islanders host Kickers with both looking to kick-start their seasons

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Harrisburg City Islanders play host to the Richmond Kickers on Friday night at Clipper Magazine Stadium with both teams looking to kick-start their seasons and get back into the top eight in the Eastern Conference. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.

Harrisburg City Islanders news and notes

  • Current record: 4-11-2, 14 points
  • The City Islanders played to a 0-0 draw with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Monday night in the first edition of the Keystone Derby Cup this season.
  • The draw broke a streak of six consecutive defeats that has seen Harrisburg sink to 12th in the USL’s Eastern Conference.
  • The shutout was Harrisburg’s first since a 1-0 victory against Orlando City B on April 16, and was just the City Islanders’ second of the season.
  • Harrisburg took victory in both of its previous games at Clipper Magazine Stadium this season, defeating Bethlehem Steel FC and Toronto FC II.

Richmond Kickers news and notes

  • Current record: 5-6-5, 20 points
  • The Kickers slid out of the top eight in the Eastern Conference on Saturday night as they fell 2-0 to the Charleston Battery at MUSC Health Stadium.
  • Richmond has been held scoreless in each of its past three contests, and the side is now averaging less than a goal-per-game this season with 15 goals in 16 outings.
  • The Kickers have scored three goals on two occasions this season, the first of which was in the opening game of the season, a 3-1 win against Harrisburg.
  • Richmond is one of two teams, the other being Charleston, to reach the USL Playoffs in every season since the league was established in 2011.
