Keystone Derby Cup resumes on Fourth of July at Highmark Stadium

PITTSBURGH – The first edition of the Keystone Derby Cup will kick off on Monday night as the Pittsburgh Riverhounds host the Harrisburg City Islanders at Highmark Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.

Pittsburgh Riverhounds news and notes

  • Current record: 2-8-3, 9 points
  • The Riverhounds were edged out 2-1 by the Rochester Rhinos in their last outing on June 25 at Rhinos Stadium, keeping the side second-from last in the Eastern Conference.
  • Corey Hertzog scored his fifth goal of the season for the side to level the score just before halftime, but the Rhinos took victory on Mike Garzi’s finish on the hour-mark.
  • The Riverhounds have gone 1-4-0 since the arrival of new Head Coach Dave Brandt as he looks to rebuild the side that lost a number of key figures after reaching the playoffs a season ago.
  • Four of the Riverhounds’ next five games are at Highmark Stadium, giving them a chance to try and put a run of form together and get back into the playoff picture.

Harrisburg City Islanders news and notes

  • Current record: 4-11-1, 13 points
  • Harrisburg is mired in a six-game losing streak that has taken it from the edge of the playoff picture to seven points back of eighth-placed Wilmington.
  • The City Islanders fell 3-1 to the Charlotte Independence in their last outing, the second consecutive contest in which they conceded three goals.
  • Harrisburg’s 30 goals against this season trail only Toronto FC II in the Eastern Conference.
  • The City Islanders have outshot their opponents 159-151 in total shots, and 74-69 in shots on goal this season.
