SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sacramento Republic FC announced on Thursday it had signed midfielder Daniel Trickett-Smith for the 2016 USL season. Trickett-Smith played most recently with the Liverpool Football Club U21s.

“We are looking forward to working with Daniel Trickett-Smith,” said Republic FC Head Coach and Technical Director Paul Buckle. “He is someone that I have seen play, I have seen train and he is a very, very talented player.  He can create and score goals and we really hope that he settles in quickly and shows Republic FC fans what a great player he is.”

Trickett-Smith appeared in 19 matches with the Liverpool FC U21 team after joining the Liverpool FC Youth Academy in 2012. The forward scored two goals with the Liverpool FC U21s. Trickett-Smith helped the club go a combined 32-23-10 in the three years he was a member of the squad, including a U21 Premier League Knockout Stage Semifinal appearance in the 2013-14 season.

Trickett-Smith’s first opportunity to face his former club will come this weekend, as Sacramento hosts Liverpool FC U21s for an international exhibition at Bonney Field.
