VANCOUVER, B.C. – Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 (4-0-2, 14pts) rallied twice to earn a 3-2 victory against Tulsa Roughnecks FC (1-5-1, 4pts) as goals by Kianz Froese and Daniel Haber keyed a win at Thunderbird Stadium. Sammy Ochoa twice gave the Roughnecks the lead, but WFC2 remained undefeated as Kyle Greig notched his fifth goal of the season before Froese and Haber’s late finishes.

Scoring:
11’ – TUL – Sammy Ochoa (Carlos Martinez)
67’ – VAN – Kyle Grieg (Kadin Chung)
79’ – TUL – Sammy Ochoa (Adriano Pellegrino)
85’ – VAN – Kianz Froese
90’ – VAN – Daniel Haber (Erik Hurtado)

Three Things That Mattered:

  • 1. For a while, it looked like it might not be WFC2’s night, as it dominated possession, but wasn’t able to find a final product. The pressure that built on the Roughnecks' goal eventually told, however, resulting in a valuable three points on home turf.

  • 2. The Roughnecks held the lead twice, but it always felt as though they were going to do well to hold onto the lead each time. The midfield was unable to hold possession for any length of time, allowing WFC2 to dictate the tempo and regain momentum quickly after each of Ochoa’s goals.

  • 3. Kadin Chung is definitely going to be included on next week’s USL Skills video. Check out the move that put two Roughnecks in a spin cycle to set up Kyle Greig’s fifth goal of the season.

Kianz Froese, Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 – Froese and Ben McKendry were both outstanding in the center of the park for WFC2, with Froese’s goal setting the stage for a late winner.
