COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC has announced the signing of former PDL standout Jacob Cawsey for the 2016 USL season.

Cawsey was a PDL All-Central Conference selection for the St. Louis Lions in the 2014 season as the side reached the PDL Playoffs. Cawsey played for the Lions for each of the past three seasons, and was a captain for the past two.

Following the conclusion of the PDL season last year, Cawsey trained with the Switchbacks, giving Coach Steve Trittschuh a chance to evaluate him alongside his squad.

“Jake is a player that trained with us all last summer after his PDL season finished in St. Louis,” Trittschuh said. “He fit in perfectly with the team and his versatility will be an asset this season.”

Cawsey also played collegiately for NAIA school Bellevue University, where he made more than 50 appearances and recorded four goals and nine assists. A native of Scunthorpe, England, Cawsey was an All-Midland Collegiate Athletics Conference Second Team Selection as the Bruins claimed the conference championship.

“I am really excited to be part of such a fantastic organization and I’m delighted to sign with the Switchbacks,” said Cawsey. “This is a soccer environment that I am looking forward to giving my everything to and a club that has a tremendous group of people with high ambitions. I am grateful to Coach Trittschuh and the coaching staff for giving me this opportunity.”
