Villarreal Signs New Contract with Galaxy II

CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy II have signed young midfielder Jaime Villarreal to a new contract for the 2016 USL season, keeping the first former Galaxy Academy member to sign with Los Dos with the club.

Villarreal had a strong 2015 season as the Galaxy II won the Western Conference Championship as he made 23 appearances and 14 starts for the club. The 20-year-old also scored his first professional goal inLos Dos’ 4-0 win against Sacramento Republic FC on July 11.

Villarreal is one of 15 Academy products that are signed professionally to either LA Galaxy or LA Galaxy II. Gyasi Zardes, Bradford Jamieson IV, Raul Mendiola, Oscar Sorto, Jack McBean, Jaime Villarreal, Eric Lopez, Elijah Martin, Adonis Amaya, Ryo Fujii, Joe Franco, Adrian Vera, Bennett Sneddon, Alejandro Covarrubias and Villarreal’s older brother, Jose Villarreal, all began their careers with the Academy.
