LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville City FC announced on Wednesday it had signed former Toronto FC II midfielder Mark-Anthony Kaye for the 2016 USL season. Kaye’s signing is pending the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate.

Kaye, a graduate of the Toronto FC Academy, spent time on loan in 2014 with Wilmington Hammerheads FC, and made 22 appearances for TFC II this past season. Kaye finished second on the TFC II in minutes with 1,662 in his first full professional season.

“I remember him from his time at Wilmington and he did very well,” Louisville Coach James O'Connor said. “He has a lot of potential and we just need to be a little patient with him and help develop his talent. He has good size and pace and is a threat going forward.”

The 21-year-old Kaye recorded one goal and one assist in six appearances for the Hammerheads in 2014. He will look to provide a boost to an already strong midfield contingent that is set to return for City this season.

“I'm very happy to be given the opportunity to progress my professional career at a club that I believe is a good fit for the style of player I am, and that is clearly on the rise in North American soccer,” Kaye said. “I remember back to when I came to Louisville to play, and the atmosphere was great — so I'm truly excited and looking forward to playing in front of the fans this season.”
