Players from all three Canadian sides in the USL have been nominated for the 2015 Canada Soccer Player Awards, which will honor the top players in Canada next month.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2’s Kianz Froese and Chris Serban are both nominated for the Men’s U20 Player of the Year award. Froese began the season with WFC2 in the USL, where he scored one goal in six appearances for the side. He then made nine appearances for the Whitecaps in MLS as Vancouver claimed second place in the Western Conference’s regular season standings.

Serban’s season with WFC2 was brought to a premature end by injury, but the young fullback impressed in his 16 appearances for the club. Serban had a goal and assist in the club’s inaugural season in the USL, and also featured strongly for the University of British Columbia this fall as it reached the semifinals of the CIS Men’s Soccer Tournament.

Fellow WFC2 player Kadin Chung is also nominated in the Men’s U17 Division, where he is joined by Toronto FC II’s Gabriel Boakye and Tristan Borges, and FC Montreal’s Ballou Jean-Yves Tabla.

Chung, Boakye and Borges all saw their first professional action this past summer for WFC2 and TFC II respectively, while 2014 Canada U17 Player of the Year Tabla is set to join Montreal for the 2016 season.

The Canadian U-17 Players of the Year will be announced on December 14, while the Canadian U-20 Players of the Year will be announced on December 15.
