LANCASTER, Calif. - The Lancaster City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved and appropriated an expenditure of over $17 million and awarded the bid for the Lancaster Municipal Stadium renovation. USL League One expansion side AV ALTA FC will host a stadium groundbreaking event on Saturday, Aug. 17 to officially commemorate the ongoing renovation process.

Lancaster Municipal Stadium, commonly referred to as 'The Hangar,' opened in 1996 as the home of Minor League Baseball's Lancaster JetHawks and served as the team's home until the Jethawks' final season in 2020.

The City of Lancaster will convert the stadium from a 4,600-seat baseball stadium into a 5,300-seat soccer-specific stadium with an expected completion of late February, ahead of AV ALTA FC's inaugural 2025 season in League One. Over the past year, the City of Lancaster and AV ALTA FC have collaborated with architect NBBJ Design to create the final plans in a uniquely successful public-private partnership.
