The Second Round of the US Open Cup is nearly here!
With two of the eleven teams that qualified to the Open Cup still standing after the first round, the Second Round promises to show some of the best soccer that League Two has to offer.
The matchups for the Second Round was announced by US Soccer on Friday, so Vermont Green FC and Des Moines Menace have their route to the Third Round planned out. Should either club claim victory in this round, they face the possibility of squaring off against a club from USL Championship.
Both matches involving USL League Two clubs will take place on Wednesday, April 3. Times and venues are yet to be finalized.
Vermont Green FC v Carolina Core FC (MLS Next Pro)
After being pushed to the brink by NoVa FC on Thursday night, Carolina Core get another shot at a League Two team in Vermont Green. The Green won a thriller of a match against USL League One's Lexington SC during the first night of the tournament, and will now try to claim victory against a second professional side in the same tournament.

The time and venue must still be officially finalized, but if all goes to plan, Vermont Green will look to pack Virtue Field once again and rekindle the atmosphere of Tuesday night.
Union Omaha (USL League One) v Des Moines Menace
Thanks to a thrilling penalty shootout victory by Des Moines Menace in the First Round, they'll seek to extend their record as the winningest amateur club in the competition with a rematch against Union Omaha. The two clubs last met in the 2022 edition of the tournament, when both clubs were the reigning champions of their respective leagues.

Union Omaha walked away 2-1 winners that day, after an own goal was forced in the 81st minute. Now, a reloaded Menace team headlined by the return of USMNT midfielder Sacha Kljestan to competitive soccer will look to take victory against Omaha.
